Join us for 'Fishy Tales' on the beach at Arran, Skye or Gairloch!

Join us this October for ‘Fishy Tales’: a free outdoor theatre event and nature hunt on the Isles of Arran, Skye and in Gairloch! Fishy Tales is a collaboration between Thunderbolts and Lightning and the West of Scotland Herring Hunt (WOSHH) project. Children of all ages and their families are needed to help reunite Struana the Selkie with her family, while learning about the fantastic marine habitats and species we have in Scotland and the research WOSHH is doing to unlock their secrets… We will be outside*, so please come dressed for the weather with your wellies and a bucket for the nature hunt and hands-on citizen-science demonstrations. Feel free to bring a picnic too!

Wed 18th October at Arran: join us from 11:00 at the COAST Discovery Centre in Lamlash for the ‘Fishy Tales’ show and beach hunt. In collaboration with the Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST).

Friday 20th October at Skye: we will be at Armadale Bay in Sleat from 14:00 for the Fishy Tales show and beach hunt afterwards. In collaboration with the Skye & Lochalsh Rivers Trust.

Saturday 21st October in Gairloch: we will be at Gairloch Beach (by the Golf Club) from 10:00 to net some fish, and 11:00 onwards for the ‘Fishy Tales’ show and beach hunt. Gairloch Community Hall will be open from 12:00 for tea and biscuits, followed by a ‘Fishy Tales’ encore at 14:00 (for anyone who misses the beach show) and an afternoon of fascinating fishy-related activities and talks from 14:30. In collaboration with the Wester Ross Fisheries Trust.

*There are indoor backup plans (if the weather really doesn’t cooperate), so please check our partner’s websites and social media for updates.

Fishy Tales is funded by NERC Growing Roots.
